Overview of the Role:
The Tax Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the taxes of Al-Futtaim Group are properly accounted for in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The role also involves assisting in other Group Tax activities including tax provision reviews, tax accounting advisory, and other tax-related workstreams. The successful candidate will work closely with various businesses, service providers, and tax professionals to carry out responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Pillar II Compliance:

Manage the tax accounting implications of Pillar 2 and Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax (DMTT), ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

Assess the impact of DMTT and Pillar 2 on tax liabilities, deferred tax assets/liabilities, and effective tax rate considerations.
Corporate Tax Compliance:

Manage the tax compliance to ensure adherence to local tax laws.

Oversee the adoption of Al Futtaim Group’s Tax Operating Model across all geographies.
Tax Accounting Advisory:

Lead preparation of tax accounting position memos on complex transactions, restructurings, and mergers & acquisitions (M&As), considering current and deferred tax implications.

Provide tax accounting advice on transactions and events in relation to IAS 12 (International Accounting Standard for Income Taxes).
Tax Accounting Readiness:

Assist the Group Tax in determining the tax accounting implications of new accounting standards (e.g., IFRS) prior to their adoption and effectivity.

Help identify tax-related considerations when preparing a roadmap for the adoption of new standards.
Legislative Developments:

Continuously monitor global tax and accounting developments that could impact tax accounting positions taken by the Group.

Provide technical assistance in the review of the Group’s tax provisions, both current and deferred taxes.

Assist in the review of tax-related disclosures in the standalone and consolidated financial statements.
Automation Support:

Support Tax Accounting-related system issues in coordination with the GTDP (Global Tax Digital Platform) and assist in Tax Accounting automation initiatives.
Required Skills:
-
Accounting degree and qualification, such as ACCA or CPA.

Extensive experience in tax compliance and/or tax advisory involving multiple jurisdictions.

Fluent in English (both written and verbal).

Proficiency in Tax Accounting, Tax Compliance, and Tax Advisory.

Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects efficiently.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.
-
Effective presentation skills for communicating tax-related information.
Qualifications:

8 to 10 years of Tax Accounting experience with exposure to IFRS.

5+ years of Tax Compliance and/or Tax Advisory experience.
-
Experience with a Big 4 Accounting Firm is preferable.

Industry experience in a related field is a plus.
