Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to provide effective engineering and maintenance services for the rolling stock and maintenance vehicles supporting Dubai Metro. This role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance activities on passenger service vehicles, engineering support vehicles, shunting vehicles, and wagons.
Main Responsibilities

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Assist the Rolling Stock Team Leader in carrying out maintenance activities on rolling stock, including passenger vehicles, engineering vehicles, shunting vehicles, and wagons.

Routine Inspections & Repairs: Perform routine vehicle inspections, check for surface defects, change consumables, and carry out minor repairs and technical cleaning.

Safe System of Works: Ensure maintenance tasks meet operational schedules and safety requirements, adhering to strict deadlines.

Functional Testing & Assembly: Test the functional performance of electromechanical assemblies using various instruments, replace and install electrical/electronic components, and assemble parts using tools, fixtures, and microscopes.

Metalworking & Calibration: Operate metalworking machines, repair, and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ensuring parts conform to specifications.

Fault Diagnostics & Component Replacement: Perform fault diagnostics and replace components either in-situ or within the depot on the rolling stock.

Compliance & Procedures: Follow all maintenance procedures, instructions, and operational rules to meet required standards.

Wheel & Bogie Overhaul: Perform wheel truing and bogie overhaul (traction motors, gearboxes, wheel-sets) as per required schedules (annually, every 4 and 8 years).

Project Support: Assist with the implementation of complex systems or new projects.

Shift and Emergency Duties: Participate in first-line response and emergency maintenance duties as required.

Maintenance Records: Maintain accurate records of rolling stock, tools, plant machinery, work completed, and performance data using computerized systems.

Permit to Work: Implement and follow the Permit to Work process as part of maintenance activities.
Knowledge Required

Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance: Knowledge in maintaining and repairing car bodies, bogies, suspension systems, couplers, propulsion systems, friction brakes, auxiliary power supplies, and train control systems for rolling stock.

System Components: Understanding of components like car doors, ventilation, air-conditioning, and electrical equipment for rolling stock is desirable.
Key Skills

Good Eyesight & Colour Vision: Strong ability to identify defects and use test equipment.

Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical mindset with the ability to understand complex rolling stock systems.

Test Equipment Proficiency: Ability to use and calibrate various electrical, electronic, and mechanical test equipment.

Report Writing & Documentation: Ability to write simple technical reports, business correspondence, and create method statements or drawings.

Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage tasks efficiently in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.

Driving Skills: A valid UAE driving license is preferable, along with driving experience in engineering vehicles.
Experience

Preferred Experience: Prior experience in shunting, driving engineering vehicles, and/or locomotives is advantageous.
Educational Qualification

Vocational Qualification: A vocational trade certificate or diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
