We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Pharmacy Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications, managing pharmacy inventory, and maintaining records related to stock and medicine expiration. The Pharmacy Technician will also counsel patients under the supervision of the pharmacist and ensure the cleanliness and organization of pharmacy spaces.
Prescription Handling:
Fill and dispense both outpatient and inpatient prescriptions issued by physicians, and ensure they are checked by pharmacists.
Prepare and dispense medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
Patient Counseling:
Counsel patients on the use of medications, ensuring they understand dosage, side effects, and administration instructions.
Provide any additional information to patients under the guidance of a pharmacist.
Inventory and Stock Management:
Order, receive, and store incoming supplies of medication.
Maintain accurate records of inventory, including tracking medication expiration dates and stock levels.
Assist with pre-packing and labeling of medicines for distribution.
Daily Operations:
Supply medications to all nursing units and wards on a daily basis as per hospital requirements.
Ensure the pharmacy shelves, labels, and containers of medication are clean, organized, and properly stored.
General Support:
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the line manager or pharmacist to support the overall functioning of the pharmacy.
Education: Higher Diploma in Pharmacy or equivalent qualification.
Experience: Previous experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred but not required.
Skills:
Good knowledge of medication and pharmaceutical practices.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work well under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Good communication skills for patient counseling.
