MT MX Payment Architect Full Time

Job Purpose

We are looking for a highly experienced Payment Architect to lead the transformation from MT to MX messaging standards within our payment systems. The successful candidate will possess deep knowledge of SWIFT standards, payment architecture, and the financial services domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Transition: Manage the end-to-end migration from MT to MX SWIFT messaging formats, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition with minimal operational disruption.

  • Architecture Design: Design scalable, secure, and resilient payment architecture strategies aligned with MX messaging standards.

  • System Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional IT and business teams to integrate MX into legacy and modern systems. Work closely with development teams and vendors on tool selection and design methodologies.

  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all solutions meet SWIFT, regulatory, and security standards.

  • Technical Leadership: Offer hands-on technical guidance to developers. Evaluate technical vendors and participate in RFP processes.

  • Performance Optimization: Fine-tune systems to maximize performance, reliability, and scalability.

  • Documentation and Training: Produce detailed technical and user documentation. Train teams and stakeholders on MX messaging workflows and standards.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders, reporting on progress, challenges, and milestones.

Competencies

  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with MT to MX transition

  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies, DevOps, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure)

  • Solid presentation and communication skills

  • Familiarity with API specification (REST/web services) and API governance

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to size hardware and define scalable, high-availability architecture

  • In-depth banking domain knowledge, particularly in payment systems

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

  • Experience: 10–15 years in payment systems architecture, with at least 7 years focused on SWIFT MT/MX standards

Preferred Certifications

  • TOGAF certification

  • Certifications in SWIFT, payment systems, or international payments
