As the Assistant Head Teacher for Inclusion, you will be a strategic leader responsible for shaping and embedding an inclusive culture that ensures every learner achieves their full potential. Reporting to the Head and forming part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will drive excellence across the provision of SEND, EAL, and Gifted & Talented (G&T) support from EYFS through to Year 13.
This is a pivotal whole-school leadership role that requires deep expertise, visionary thinking, and a hands-on commitment to inclusive education.
Lead the school-wide inclusion strategy aligned with RGSGD’s vision, KHDA regulations, and Cognita’s Inclusion Framework.
Champion equity and diversity, ensuring inclusive values are deeply embedded in curriculum design, teaching methodology, assessment, and school culture.
Serve as a visible, influential advocate for all learners, fostering a community that celebrates neurodiversity and individual achievement.
Oversee robust systems for early identification, assessment, and support for students with SEND and EAL needs.
Manage and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs), and tailored learning support strategies.
Ensure the graduated approach (Assess, Plan, Do, Review) is implemented with fidelity across all phases.
Coordinate intervention programmes and ensure curriculum accessibility for students with additional needs.
Develop and embed a progressive strategy for identifying, monitoring, and stretching G&T learners.
Facilitate high-impact enrichment programmes, mentorship initiatives, and academic acceleration opportunities.
Create partnerships with external institutions and competitions to elevate the learning journey of high-performing students.
Lead high-quality CPD on inclusive education, adaptive teaching, EAL pedagogy, and neurodiverse learner support.
Coach staff across all phases in creating inclusive learning environments and differentiated instruction.
Build leadership capacity among middle leaders and inclusion staff through effective delegation, training, and collaborative planning.
Monitor and analyse attainment and progress data for SEND, EAL, and G&T learners.
Use evidence to evaluate the impact of interventions and guide resource allocation.
Prepare detailed reports for SLT, Governors, DSIB, and KHDA as required.
Ensure statutory compliance with KHDA, DSIB, and British curriculum standards for inclusion and safeguarding.
Maintain meticulous documentation, including inclusion registers, inspection evidence, and stakeholder reports.
Lead self-evaluation and quality assurance reviews, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Serve as a key liaison for parents and guardians of students with SEND, EAL, and G&T status.
Coordinate with therapists, psychologists, and external professionals to ensure cohesive support.
Design and lead parent engagement sessions, workshops, and progress review meetings.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with significant classroom experience.
National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or equivalent (or willingness to complete).
Additional certifications in SEND, EAL, or G&T education preferred.
Postgraduate qualification in Education, Inclusion, or Educational Leadership is desirable.
Proven track record of leadership as a SENCo, Inclusion Lead, or Assistant Head within a whole-school setting.
Demonstrated impact in raising outcomes for learners with diverse needs.
Familiarity with KHDA, DSIB, BSO, and UK curriculum inclusion frameworks.
Experience in inspection readiness, policy leadership, and multi-agency planning.
A background in coaching or developing others in inclusive pedagogy.
A strategic thinker with strong operational capabilities.
Deep understanding of inclusive teaching, adaptive practice, and high-impact interventions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; a natural collaborator and team leader.
