Kitchen Operations Steward Part Time

Position Summary

The Kitchen Steward supports smooth and efficient kitchen operations primarily by cleaning and maintaining kitchen utensils, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans. The role also involves managing waste removal, organizing recycling, and ensuring kitchen floors, shelves, and equipment are clean.

Key Responsibilities

  • Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled shifts

  • Break down and clean dishwasher machines thoroughly, including all parts

  • Change water in dishwashing machines and debris baskets hourly

  • Keep cleaning chemicals stocked and report when supplies run low (e.g., soap products)

  • Maintain fresh wash, rinse, and sanitizer water in three-compartment sinks, changing at least once per hour

  • Ensure sanitizer test strips are present and used

  • Keep shelving above sinks organized and dry

  • Remove trash and recycling regularly or when needed during service

  • Keep hand sinks stocked with soap and towels throughout the day

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization at dishwashing stations and soil tables

  • Keep soaking basins clean and fresh

  • Organize Back of House (BOH) and non-food & beverage (F&B) storage areas daily

  • Remove boxes from receiving areas and maintain slop sink cleanliness

  • Organize glass rack storage areas

  • Perform all opening and closing duties as directed by supervisors

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar stewarding or kitchen cleaning role preferred

  • Physically fit and able to stand throughout entire shifts

  • Ability to lift kitchen equipment and work efficiently

  • Strong time management and organizational skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Willingness to work weekends and public holidays as required

  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to build rapport with team

  • Open to further training and professional development
