Job Summary

GEMS Dubai American Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Educational Assistant to join our Elementary Division. The successful candidate will work closely with classroom teachers to support student learning and classroom management. This role includes assisting in daily academic activities, preparing classroom materials, and occasionally supervising small groups or classes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with instructional tasks and classroom management.
• Support reading and literacy activities across different student levels.
• Run small group sessions inside or outside the classroom.
• Prepare materials and documents to support lessons.
• Cover classes for short durations when required.
• Become familiar with key curriculum areas including literacy, numeracy, and phonics.
• Promote positive student behavior and contribute to a productive learning environment.

Qualifications & Knowledge

• Knowledge of strategies that support positive behavior aligned with school expectations.
• Understanding of how to support a purposeful and inclusive learning environment.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Competent literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• A flexible and proactive approach to multitasking and handling interruptions.

Skills

• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong interpersonal skills for working in a multicultural environment.
• Organizational ability to manage classroom resources and student support effectively.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or working with children is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or college certificate (attested).
