Assistant Resident Engineer Full Time

Job Description:

Stantec is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer to support projects related to stormwater & drainage, flood alleviation, wastewater networks, and water distribution networks in Dubai. The role involves overseeing design and infrastructure work, including pipeline and valve construction, rising main supervision, and design monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Delivery:

• Assist the Resident Engineer in managing day-to-day project activities related to construction works.

• Interact with contractors, sub-contractors, and laboratories while monitoring construction progress.

• Coordinate with government departments, contractors, consultants, and the public to ensure smooth project progress and avoid delays.

• Maintain project logs, including progress reports, handover records, and final accounts.

• Organize progress meetings with government agencies, interface representatives, and stakeholders, recording and distributing minutes.

• Review shop drawings, design proposals, method statements, and related project correspondence, and assist the Resident Engineer in preparing replies.

• Prepare specifications, reports, and cost estimates as required.

• Coordinate with contractor engineers on scheduling and resource application.

• Supervise the performance of inspectors and surveyors, ensuring quality and accuracy.

• Review and approve design documents and construction plans.

• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.

• Ensure accurate as-built records and coordinate project handover to service authorities.

• Identify non-conforming work, generate reports, and manage corrective actions.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Resident Engineer.

Client Service Management:

• Liaise with internal and external clients, including Dubai Municipality Infrastructure.

• Build and maintain positive, lasting relationships with clients.

• Manage utility diversions and work with relevant agencies for coordination.

• Ensure all work is carried out following company policies, quality procedures, and safety protocols.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Adhere to construction design management for safety and compliance.

• Assist with emergency works and be familiar with various areas in Dubai for quick response.

Qualifications:

• Degree: Relevant engineering degree from a recognized university.

• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in design, construction, and supervision of house connections, roadworks, and miscellaneous infrastructure projects.

• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of sewerage, drainage, and irrigation networks in Dubai.

• Emergency Response: Must be able to respond to emergency situations promptly across Dubai.

• Skills: Proficiency in drafting programs, Microsoft Office, Excel, and Primavera P6.

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• License: Valid UAE Driving License is required.
