Role Overview:

As a Teaching Assistant at Ladybird Nursery, you will support the Lead Teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences for children aged 6 months to 4 years. You will play a key role in helping create an environment where children feel secure, valued and challenged. You will assist with classroom activities, support the children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development, and help maintain the high standards for which Ladybird is known.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate activities aligned with the EYFS framework.
• Assist children during learning sessions, playtime and transitions, helping them to engage, explore and develop.
• Provide individual or small-group support under the direction of the teacher, encouraging independence and curiosity.
• Help prepare and tidy classroom resources, set up learning areas and support displays and classroom order.
• Supervise children during meals, snack time, toileting/hygiene routines, and outdoor play, ensuring health, safety and well-being.
• Observe and assist in monitoring children’s progress, behaviour and wellbeing, and share appropriate feedback with the teaching team.
• Contribute to the nurturing classroom environment by being friendly, approachable and professional in your interactions with children, colleagues and parents.
• Maintain confidentiality, follow nursery policies and support a culture of continuous improvement.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—able to interact effectively with colleagues, parents and children from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work as part of a collaborative team, taking direction and responding flexibly to the needs of the nursery environment.
• An understanding of early years education and the developmental needs of young children would be an advantage.
• Patience, adaptability and enthusiasm for helping children learn and grow.

Qualifications & Experience:

• A relevant certificate or diploma in Early Years Education, Childcare or a related field is preferred (or willingness to undertake).
• Previous experience in an early years setting is desirable but not essential—training will be provided.
• A strong command of English is required; knowledge of Arabic or another language is an advantage.
